Capital Tax Collection Bureau is now SAS 70 certified Harrisburg, PA – The Capital Tax Collection Bureau (CTCB) recently completed a Type II SAS 70 audit conducted by the accounting firm of Stambaugh Ness, PC based in York, Pennsylvania. The audit took place from August 1, 2009 through February 28, 2010. A SAS 70 audit is a third party assessment of a service organization’s internal controls governing a service it provides to its clients.
The primary benefit of a SAS 70 audit is that a single audit serves as a substitute for individual audits being performed by each of the clients of the service. SAS 70 audits focus on operational and technological controls related specifically to the service under review. The SAS 70 audit resulted in an unqualified opinion for CTCB. “We are delighted to have received an unqualified opinion which is the highest rating offered,” said Joshua Vecchio, Executive Director of the 66-member non-profit agency. “Over the past two years, CTCB has implemented a number of controls in order to make our organization secure. The unqualified opinion shows that our efforts were successful. This is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of the employees, management and directors of the bureau.”
Vecchio said that the SAS 70 certification puts CTCB ahead of other local tax collectors who are vying to be named county-wide collectors pursuant to Act 32 of 2008. Act 32 requires county-wide consolidation of earned income tax collection beginning in 2012. “The decision in choosing a county-wide collector is a difficult one. This SAS 70 audit shows the commitment that our Board of Directors has in keeping CTCB a viable collector for years to come.”
James Swenson, president of CTCB and Chairperson of the Perry County Tax Collection Committee added, “We take great pride in this member-driven organization and this SAS 70 audit shows that we have excellent personnel and a great system in place to be competitive in the ever-changing world of local tax collection. I encourage all Tax Collection Committees to review our SAS 70 audit |
